The Royersford Free Public Library was officially opened on May 21, 1898, on the third floor of the Adams School Building at 4th & Spring in Royersford. The free library was founded by virtue of the collaboration of community leaders and residents alike. The library received numerous monetary donations and started with 400 books, many of which had been donated by the community.
As the use of the library grew, Royersford residents continued to raise money and donate items to create a local library that fostered an environment of lifelong learning and enjoyment of reading! In 1995, the Royersford Free Public Library was established as a branch of the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library, a partnership that ensured that the Royersford Free Public Library was able to properly engage with the needs of the community it served. Marching forward into a new century, the Royersford Free Public Library was equipped with the strong, passionate leadership and community support it needed to handle any changes that may come.
